Our Pastor
Elder Cecilio Edwards, a humble true Man of God, who prefers other over himself. Called at an early child age, great grand mother Teresa Mathurin would say, “He has wisdom of an old man”. At the age of 10, his parents migrated from Panama Central America where he was raised on the Canal Zone and Panama in Colon, attended churches and Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Frederick Douglas Washington to The Bronx New York. Graduating from High School he enlisted in the Arm Forces and became an Army Shoulder served four years during peace time with honorable discharge in 1980.
Predestinated to the Will of God, Elder Edwards had run from his calling, until God enlisted him into the Army of The Lord and married the love of his life Wanda in December of 1980. Soon afterwards he joined Pressley Temple aka Pressley Memorial C.O.G.I.C., Inc. and was favored by the Mother’s for his kindness gentlemanlike disposition. Supervisor Emeritus of the 4th Jurisdiction and Pastor’s wife Evangelist Vera Brown adopted him as one of her sons. Under the leadership of Pastor and Mother Brown, Elder Edwards was appointed a Deacon, a Minister, and Elder during 1980’s.
In 2008, when Pastor Willie Lee Brown went home to glory, he wrote a letter requesting that Elder C. Edwards would succeed him. Bishop John P. Lee, Sr. appointed Elder Edwards in June of 2008 to the office of Pastor of Pressley Memorial Church of God in Christ, Inc.
Elder Cecilio Edwards attended Lehman College in 1980’s, and O.M. Kelly Bible Institute in early 1990’s. Pastor Edwards is gainfully employed by NYC M.T.A. for twenty years. Is a faithful husband to one wife from his youth, a father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend to many who knows his words of wisdom and favorite songs.
